This website is an initiative of the Joint Africa Regional United Nations working group on HIV Prevention through UNAIDS East and Southern Africa and the Southern African Technical Support Facility.

As the global advocate on AIDS, UNAIDS leads, strengthens and supports an expanded response. It is dedicated to preventing the transmission of HIV, reducing the suffering caused by HIV/AIDS and countering the impact of the pandemic on individuals, communities and societies.

To improve coordination and harmonisation of national responses to the epidemic, The UN HIV Prevention Africa working group, led by UNAIDS RST/ESA advocates for scale up of HIV Prevention efforts through the 'Three Ones' principle, i.e. one agreed framework of action, one national AIDS coordinating authority with a broad-based multisectoral mandate and one agreed country level monitoring and evaluation system.
